Albert Park is traditionally filled with Cafe's and joggers enjoying life central to South Melbourne (the 'old' part of Melbourne) with its wonderful architecture and Port Phillip Bay. However, now that March is here the Formula One teams are arriving to take over the Park for this years inaugural race. The track at Albert Park is very smooth compared to other tracks resulting in the Melbourne Grand Prix being considered a 'fast' circuit. The number of ticket holders continues to rise in Australia with around 400,000 enjoying the spectable track-side in 2007.

<n0:modified xmlns:n0="http://www.openlinksw.com/weblog/">2007-11-04T20:23:00.000-04:00</n0:modified>

Malasia GP

Round 2: Sepang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sepang is a highly regarded 'State of the Art' track, having only been opened in 1999. Consequently it is beautifully constructed from its three storey pit area to its double fronted grandstand.

Situated in the middle of the desert presented a number of challenges for the designers and drivers for this circuit, not least of all the heat. Taking on fluids and watching engine temperatures is critical for this race -long periods standing in the pits or on the start grid can lead to later engine failures.

Barcelona, with its fantastic nightlife and amazing buildings is just south of Circuit de Catalunya. This is one of the favourite test tracks due to its long straights and nice selection of corners. Consequently the drivers know this circuit pretty well
, so expect some 'wide' cars at just the right places when overtaking is being attempted.

Running anti-clockwise, this is one of the few circuits that requires many drivers to add a head rest to help them. Throughout the winter season the F1 crue are busy training
, but with so many tracks running clockwise, the few track exceptions such as this one cause difficulty -particularly in the last quarter of the race.

Monaco is one of the most highly prized podiums in the F1 schedule. Since 1929 the Monaco streets have been shared with race cars haring around the many elevations that this track enjoys. This track has traditionally levelled the field in many respects allowing F1 cards with great handling to make up for lack of top speed.

Best known by fans for its 'Wall of Champions' this circuit, named after the great Gilles Villeneuve has one of the fastest straights, although 2007 showed that its not just that part of the track that can be dangerous as Kubica would attest after his pretty horrific crash in 2006. In all there four safety car periods. 2007 similarly saw equally atrocious accidents, spin offs and safety cars. Expect to see teams prepare race strategies for any eventuality.

Steeped in history, from its days as a World War bomber runway, Silverstone is the home to the first World Championship Grand Prix Race (won by an Alfa Romeo driven by Farina incidentally. Lap record then was a long 1m 50sec) Since then it has been reshaped a few times and now lays claim as the home of theBritish Grand Prix and seen by many as a classic race. The pressure remains on Silverstone to maintain the GP venue there, with calls for track and facility improvements.

The Nuerburgring is one of the most interesting circuits due to the construction. Originally designed to be 27miles long with a split circuit it had over 100 corners, each designed carefully to test the skill of the driver. Modern races now use a small part of the original circuit, with the remaining track being considered a true challenge to contestants.

The Hungaroring makes for interesting reading given that it is the first race behind the Iron Curtain. Built in the mid 80's it has often been slated as being as "pedestrian Grand Prix" due to the slowness of the circuit. Even with the removal of the esses in 89 it is still a slow old track, second only to Monaco. Consequently you shouldn't expect too much action in terms of overtaking (exceptions have been Ralph Schumacher who stormed from last to fourth in 2003) And there is a fair likelihood that the pole sitter after qualifying will be running on vapours to make sure they out at the front.

Monza is such an amazing track in the heart of the Tifosi. There's a camp site yards away from the track where you can smell the petrol let alone hear the roar of the V8s race by. With the long straights this track favours the cars with the higher top speeds and higher revs, but it also has some great chicanes and bends to make it an exciting track. Enjoy the racing and atmosphere at this historic track
