Anyway, we had a chuckle and realized we were on to something, so I proceeded to formalize the definition: </p>\n\n<blockquote>\n<cite>Evoluation is evolution devoid of the randomness of mutation. A state of being in which it is possible to evaluate and choose evolutionary paths.</cite>\n</blockquote>\n\n<p>\n<strong>Evoluation</strong> actually describes where we are today in relation to the <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/World_Wide_Web" id="link-id105c1518">World Wide Web</a>; to the <a href="http://community.linkeddata.org/dataspace/organization/lod#this" id="link-id103f9d00">Linking Open Data community</a> (<a href="http://community.linkeddata.org/dataspace/organization/lod#this" id="link-id1048c210">LOD</a>), it&#39;s taking the path towards becoming a <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Giant_Global_Graph" id="link-id104c3a20">Giant Global Graph</a> of <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Linked_Data" id="link-id104968e0">Linked Data</a>; to the Web 2.0 community, it&#39;s simply a collection of Web Services and associated APIs; and to many others, it remains an opaque collection of interlinked documents.</p>\n<p>The great thing about the Web is that it allows netizens to explore a plethora of paths without adversely affecting the paths of others. That said, controlling one&#39;s path may take mutation out of evolution, but we are still left with the requirement to adapt and eventually survive in a competitive environment. Thus, although we can evaluate and choose from the many paths the Web&#39;s evolution offers us, the path that delivers the most benefits ultimately dominates. :-) </p>\n<h3>Back to LForum</h3>\n<p>This project is about generating <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Linked_Data" id="link-id10b0faa0">Linked Data</a> from existing boardscape <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Data" id="link-id10497a98">data</a> spaces e.g the content of phpBB based discussion forums, in line with my <a href="http://www.openlinksw.com/dataspace/kidehen@openlinksw.com/weblog/kidehen@openlinksw.com%27s%20BLOG%20%5B127%5D/1343" id="link-id143fcae0">earlier post about the changing Linked Data landscape</a> and the rising desire for automagically generated <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Linked_Data" id="link-id143c19a8">Linked Data</a> URIs and/or entire <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Linked_Data" id="link-id1077f618">Linked Data</a> Spaces from existing (X)HTML Web Pages. Of course, this means that the following takes place under the covers:</p>\n\n<ul>- <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Named_entity_recognition" id="link-id107ec2a0">Named Entity Extraction &amp; Disambiguation</a>\n</ul>\n<ul>- Subject matter Concept Extraction</ul>\n<ul>- Meshing of the extracts above into a <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Resource_Description_Framework" id="link-id10d51658">Linked Data Graph</a>\n</ul>\n\n<p>To effectively achieve the steps above, there has to be an underlying &quot;Lookup&quot; and &quot;Reference&quot; oriented <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Linked_Data">Linked Data</a> substrate (a backbone in a sense). This is essentially what the <a href="http://umbel.org/about/" id="link-id142e2a20">UMBEL</a> effort achieves through the use of <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/SKOS" id="link-id14580ad0">SKOS</a> to construct a Subject matter oriented <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Taxonomy" id="link-id10f65338">Concept Scheme</a> that incorporates Concepts and <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Named_entity_recognition" id="link-id10fadcf0">Named Entities</a> from <a href="http://dbpedia.org/resource/Cyc" id="link-id10ddbd88">OpenCyc</a> and <a href="http://www.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~suchanek/downloads/yago/" id="link-id10b23cf8">Yago</a> respectively.\n</p>" ; "35ad83ea349728a31f58646246c0cc32" ; ; . . , ; ; ; "Kingsley Uyi Idehen's Weblog" ; ; . ; ; . ; ; ; "Kingsley Idehen" .
